Holiday Fun Week 2010 - Superheroes
What a fantastic time we all had at Holiday Fun 2010.
180 children, together with adults and teenagers had fun and excitement all week.
We made new friends and renewed old friendships with others from the Banstead Five Churches.
On Monday we heard how the paralysed man, who so wanted to see Jesus, was lowered through the roof by his friends. Being a good friend makes you a superhero.
On Tuesday our own Father David told us about how Jesus calmed the storm whilst in the boat. This was a sad moment as it was Father David’s last year after having attended Fun Week for 17 years. We had to sing his favourite song ‘with Jesus in the boat we can smile at the storm’. Helping your friends when they are afraid will make you a superhero.
Then on Wednesday we had Roy’s favourite miracle the feeding of the 5000. We had lots of lovely food and learnt that sharing with others will make you a superhero
Thursday saw Simon Peter (alias Father Damian) casting his net on the other side of the boat to catch many fish. This also was Father Damian’s last fun week and he certainly went out on a high. To be a superhero we must trust and persevere and be willing to do what Jesus asks of us even when it doesn’t make sense.
Friday came round all too quickly and we heard about Zaccheus and how he climbed a tree in order to see Jesus. Jesus will change our lives if we let him.
We sang a lot of our favourite songs and the theme song was ‘our God is a great big God and he holds us in His hands. Each Group was named after a hero from the Bible, Moses, Noah, Samuel, Paul; but we all came to know the real Superhero JESUS a little better. Thank you to everyone who made the week so enjoyable.
So no one misses out on next year's Holiday Fun week put the date in your diary now. Monday 25th July to Friday 29th July 2011.
