Open
Door Coffee Shop |
The Open Door coffee Shop was started in 1991 as a community
project, funded with public monies raised at various events.
The building is attached to All Saints Institute in the centre
of the High Street and can seat approximately 30 people in
the winter but in the summer can extend outside, using extra
garden
tables and chairs, with a very pleasant outlook over the
Orchard. Voluntary helpers from the five churches, with their
friends,
staff the Coffee Shop and it is open six days a week from
10.00am to 2.00pm serving coffee, tea and light lunches.
Home-made cakes
are a special attraction to both local residents and visitors
from other areas, where they also find a warm welcome and
a sympathetic ear from a volunteer, ready to listen to any
problems and offer
help and advice where necessary. The Coffee Shop is self-supporting
and any profit, after expenses and depreciation, is paid
to the Outreach Fund which dispenses grants from
time
to time
for Christian activities in the area. |
