The talk will take place at 8.00 pm in the Church Institute, High Street, Banstead - everyone is welcome.
Lent House Groups 2012
This year Ash Wednesday falls on 22nd February, marking the start of Lent. As usual the Banstead Five Churches are organising Lent House Groups weekly for five weeks from 27th February - these are a friendly, unpressured way to explore our faith together, to meet new friends and share questions and insights (or just listen, if you prefer).
We’ll be following a course called ‘Handing on the Torch: sacred words for a secular world’, provided by York Courses. It addresses the discrepancy between the Church’s growth in Asia, Africa and Latin America and its struggle to thrive, even to survive, in the West. Why should this be? What may it mean for individual Christians? Or for our Churches?
On the accompanying CD you’ll hear the voices of the RC journalist Clifford Longley, Archbishop John Sentamu of York, Rachel Lampard, who is responsible for the Methodist Church’s engagement with political issues, and Bishop Graham Cray, the Archbishops’ Missioner.
Sign up on the list in any of the Five Churches by 5th February, and come along - everyone is very welcome.
